5/30/2019: Design Advantage – Fire Sprinkler Systems and the International Building Code

This program reviews the 2015 – 2018 International Building Code (IBC) for fire sprinkler requirements and details areas, such as water supply, open corridor protection, Chapter 9, tradeoffs, and other current IBC information on fire sprinkler systems. The program identifies and explains the various types of sprinkler systems and where they are required and used throughout the IBC. Several discussions will arise over the design options which will permit design flexibility in all building types and uses. The seminar will cover relevant sections of the IBC and fire sprinkler installation standards (such as NFPA 13, 13R and 13D) that all code officials, contractors, layout technicians and engineers should know.

Participants will learn how to use the NFSA Fire Sprinkler Guide to quickly identify code requirements and the 125+ trade-ups that fire sprinklers provide.

3/25/2019: March Seminar: Foam Free High Performance Enclosures

On Monday, March 25th, come and learn about available options and best practices in high performance residential systems from one of the leading building science firms in the nation.

Foam Free High Performance Building Enclosures presents a clear and practical guide to achieving the highest levels of resilient, sustainable building, using materials within the enclosure that have a low global warming potential to eliminate the use of foam. The growing performance demands of air control, vapor control, thermal control, health and sustainability are examined. Foam insulation, dominant in today’s high-performance marketplace, is increasingly recognized as hindering many of these building performance goals. Practitioners are therefore wanting and finding new solutions that virtually eliminate foam and provide greater performance. This presentation is a careful look at how to do it.
